Moon festival Moon festival is a tradition long observed by the Chinese people of Thung Yao Sub-District. A ceremony is held on the full moon day in the eight month under the Chinese calendar. On the night of the moon festival, the people will set their tables for moon worshipping in front of their houses on both sides of the roads around the market in Thung Yao Sub – District. The Trang Underwater Wedding originally stared in mid 1990s and in 2000 it gained official recognition from the Guinness Book of Records as the largest underwater wedding in the world A wedding ceremony is performed on 13 – 15 February by means of pouring blessed water from a conch shell onto the bridal palms and followed by underwater marriage registration. Lark Phra Festival Lark Phra is one of the unique southern traditions. It is held during the first and third days of the waning moon in the eleventh lunar moth (at the end of the Buddhist Lent) This festival is aimed to preserve, revive and pass down ancient customs and traditions which are local uniqueness. During the festival the Buddhists will hold a boat parade of Buddha statues. Each temple will find skilled craftmen to decorate their boats beautifully for the contest. Then the Buddhist monks of each temple will be invited to sit on their own boats which will be pulled to various locations with a fanfare played by drums, gongs and cymbals along the way.
